Week 06 Group Cruise Ship to Cablecar 01

Achieved using a laser engraving machine, this makes the relief a darker colour to contrast with the brick improving visibility. If bricks are at ground level, visibility will be important for efficient wayfinding.



  

Below are some examples of engraved bricks, one done by laser engraving, the other using a hand carved technique, found by fellow classmates. It shows the importance of having a contrasting colour for visibility reasons.

Week 04 Group Cruise Ship to Cablecar 01 Results from interview with Michelle, an employee at the Cable Car. The existing sculpture/sign at the entrance to Cable Car Lane is popular, and sometimes complemented on. The sign is easily visible from surrounding areas, however it is too high and can be easily missed when closer to it. Michelle suggested a kiosk at the entrance of the lane, to encourage people to try the Cable Car, and take payments. Michelle also suggested red arrows leading into the lane, she also liked my suggestion of coloured tiles/bricks in a pattern leading to the Cable Car. Below are some designs that work cohesively with the existing brick pattern found from outside Cable Car Lane, leading all the way in. Exploring embossing & debossing for potential brick designs.

Week 07 Group Cruise Ship to Cablecar 01 'BRICK PIXEL' MOSAIC CONCEPTS Here are some pixelated brick mosaic designs, intended to lead the target audience into Cable Car Lane. Using the existing brick pattern of the lane, the design simply utilises this and would only require the replacement of select bricks. BRICK ARROW DEVELOPMENT

Week 08 Group Cruise Ship to Cablecar 01 Using the engraved brick prototypes, we started looking at formations that could indicate directional wayfinding I looked at integrating this arrow formation into earlier designs, to combine a pixel type design with the arrow formations for added directional properties Below is an example of the anamorphic type concept combined with the directional brick arrows and how they could work harmoniously.
